Summary
Responsible for project documentation, processing progress payment estimates and providing project related office administration services
Duties and Responsibilites
    These duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Ability to assign tasks to project personnel, effectively discuss concerns and follow-up through completion.
  1. Maintain project documentation, including reviewing field books, updating accounting and construction spreadsheets, data entry into various FDOT computer programs, scheduling work in relation to deadlines and assisting the Project Administrator with management functions.
  1. Process construction contract changes (Change orders, Supplemental Agreements) including research, document development and full submittal preparation.
  1. Process monthly progress estimates.  Prepare monthly progress reports.  Review LIMS Monthly Status Report to ensure strict materially compliance. 
  1. Prepare Final project documentation including but not limited to final estimates, as-built plans and material certification.  Prepare the offer of final payment documentation for submittal of Final Estimate.
  1. Be familiar with the requirements of the various contracts and client expectations related to project documentation. 

Required Education
/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent and four years of road and bridge construction engineering inspection (CEI)
  • Performed or assisted in project related duties such as LIMS data entry, Site Manager reports, FDOT Engineer’s Quantities Menu, progress and final estimates. EEO compliance, processing construction contract changes, etc.
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level II qualification

Summary
This is a highly complex technical position responsible for performing roadway and bridge inspections on construction projects.  
Duties and Responsibilites
    These duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Creates and checks engineering computations.  Creates daily reports and provides materials sampling and testing services. 
  1. Provides lead direction to inspection staff, including determining workloads, setting schedules, adjusting priorities, interpreting policies; giving technical advice.
  1. Prepares reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Maintains required records and reports related to inspection results and field or laboratory test.
  1. Coordinates inspection and construction-related activities with contractors, including preparing pay estimates, preparing change orders and scheduling inspections, performing inspections on earthwork, concrete or asphalt.
  1. Drives to field sites and inspects county, state or private roads and bridges from the initial phase to final acceptance in accordance with the plans specifications.
  1. Responds to questions and complaints regarding codes and regulations, inspection schedules, inspection results and environmental compliance requirements.
  1. Ensures projects are built in accordance with plans and specifications.
  1. Attends and provides active participation in pre-construction meetings, pre-paving meetings and all other project related meetings.  Ensures proper input of data into SiteManager and LIMS databases.

Required Education
/Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent plus four years of experience in construction inspection, two years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection with the exception of Complex Category 2 (CC2) bridge structures.  Or a Civil Engineering degree and one year of road and bridge CEI experience.
  • At least one year experience as a Road/Bridge Inspector
